2017 Nunes Vineyard ~ Pinot Noir ~ Russian River Valley ~ 750 ml
Tasting Notes
There's a lot going on here in this 2017 Nunes. There's an added layer of depth and ripeness compared to other years, making this something of a departure from the recent past. This ruby red beauty opens with fresh red fruit and a nose of cherry and cranberry then progresses into more brambly blackberry fruit with barrel spice notes. Lively acidity delivers concentrated flavors in a similar, mouthwatering progression. The wine opens with juicy, sweet cherry, cran-raspberry and apple skin flavors as the wine opens. The wine finishes dryer and includes more strawberry, sweet tea and darker blue fruit notes. The wine is framed nicely with graham cracker and other toasty barrel notes. The complex flavor profile and solid acidity keeps you going back for the next taste before you know what's happening. We love when that happens.

Winemaker Notes
Located on the last of Russian River Valley’s alluvial bench with its silty clay loam soil, Nunes Vineyard provides us perfectly ripened 115, 667, 777 clonal grapes vintage after vintage. The valley’s renowned fog is a natural cooling system influencing from two directions, the Pacific Ocean from the West, and San Francisco Bay from the South, the perfect condition for a long cool growing season. Fred and Wendy Nunes combine a passion for growing Pinot Noir with a comprehensive knowledge of their vineyard and the science that drives it. Between Mother nature and the Nunes’, this vineyard has all the components we need to produce stellar Pinot Noir that speaks from the vineyard.
