2016 Sonoma Coast ~ Pinot Noir ~ 750 ml

2016 Sonoma Coast ~ Pinot Noir ~ 750 ml

Tasting Notes

We love our blends. And we are lucky to craft killer blends with fruit from truly great vineyards. This is not an afterthought for us. And this 2016 Sonoma Coast is a good one. Like many of the other wines from this vintage, the color is a surprisingly deep dark garnet. On the nose there is deep red and blue berry fruit with generous spice and toast notes. The palate delivers a rich blend of dark cherry, raspberry and tangy pomegranate fruit flavors. This is an impressive wine that has some breadth, concentration, and a nice line of acidity that keeps it fresh and super drinkable. Great balance and nice long finish. A great all around Pinot. The balance and concentrated flavor profile makes it a great pairing with about just about everything. We'll leave it to you to figure it out.

Winemaker Notes

Our Sonoma Coast wine changes with each vintage as we often try out new vineyards which allows us to explore different flavors. We blend with others for a unique blend each vintage. Those that are exceptional stand out and are considered for our single vineyard designate program. We hope you enjoy! We have carefully refined our winemaking techniques in a way that defines our unique Pinot Noirs, separating the grapes by clone during fermentation and aging. This gives us many more blending options. We cold soak the grapes two to three days before adding several different types of yeast, cultured specifically for Pinot Noir. During the seven to twelve days it takes to ferment, we hand-punch each fermenter, sometimes as often as five or six time a day to ensure that the temperature doesn’t get too warm. Once the juice is fermented, we press the fruit and move the wine into Francois Frères French oak barrels, and then age before bottling.
